Eva Brooks Campbell

Eva Brooks Campbell was born in 1922 on a farm in Glade Valley, North Carolina, at the base of Bullhead Mountain, part of the Blue Ridge chain. Times were tough then. The oldest of 11 children, she grew up working, but even in the midst of constant chores, she remained aware of the stunning beauty that surrounded her.

Years later at sea level in North East, Maryland, where she raised six children of her own, she recalled her childhood in the mountains and wrote about it. She also wrote about life around Maryland rivers, whose own unique beauty she had come to admire.

Eva passed away in 2012.
