Rising Sun Melodies
We are very pleased that Smithsonian Folkways recently released a new CD of Ola Belle Campbell Reed’s music. Entitled “Rising Sun Melodies,” it is a compilation of her songs, including eight previously unreleased tracks.
Ola Belle, our father’s sister, was one of our family’s finest storytellers. Many other artists have covered her songs, particularly “High on a Mountain” and “I’ve Endured.”
We are pleased, also, that the booklet that accompanies the CD and tells her story mentions Hugh and Zane as nephews who are carrying on the singer/songwriter family tradition, as are her sons, David and Ralph. The stories continue.
